Patriots 1970s NOB Fonts
The 1972 photos below show Patriots offensive lineman Tom Neville and cornerback Ron Bolton from behind--with the NOB in block lettering much like the Jets of the same year:

In 1971, here's Patriot DB Rickie Harris with a "normal" font:

By 1974, Neville's NOB had returned to "normal":

A few other teams also seem to be wearing jerseys with the block lettering:

Re: Patriots 1970s NOB Fonts
BD - while I'm in agreement with you that the sometimes used Bills and Patriots NOB fonts matched the weird Jets font from the early 1970s, the Bengals and Chargers' fonts were pretty standard block font. The 49ers always used serif fonts in the '70s.
That weird Jets font was only on jerseys manufactured by Champion out of Rochester, NY. The Jets, Bills and Patriots, perhaps due to geographic proximity to Rochester, all wore these champion jerseys at some point between 1970-75. Oddly, the Cardinals also used the Champion "odd font" jerseys for a year or two during this period.
