week 1 vs Jets

Bill, look at the socks James is wearing (red-blue-red), in the database you have the pattern red-white-blue-white-red. I don't have time to check on Getty, US Presswire, etc, at the moment

I'm done for the day Sleep

I don't know. Mutant socks maybe???

These are all from 1972 and they have what we'd expect sock-wise...

Week 8 - blue mesh

This last one is from Week 2 (blue mesh) - 7 days after the Jets game pictured above. May be a one and done or (#20) Robert James used a non-uniform pair of socks. He's actually pictured above again (trying to) tackling Franco.

I don't know about that Week 9 photo.

Looking at the Randy jackson photo above and seeing how the red outline made the letters look so bold and then comparing that to Bob Chandler in the last photo I'm inclined to think that Week 9 is mesh. Perhaps the squared letters had to be made a little smaller for the longer names - or in this case a player that needed his first initial as for "B. Chandler"

O.J.'s "2" on his 32 is the giveaway. If his "2' has a slant, it's mesh. If his "2" is horizontal, it's durene.

Yes.

Also, please note Bob Chandler's NOB. It's quite thin. If it were the durene jersey, the nameplate would be much thicker and not quished in so much. These are definitely mesh.
