1979 New York Giants sock stripes

I believe the stripes were blue with the home blue jersey, and red with the white road jersey. Plus I think the stripes are a little thicker than we have them.

What you have in 1979 is a series of alternating white and red stripes (separated by blue) down almost the entire length of the sock. It's basically the 1976-78 design (5 alternating white and red stripes separated by the blue background) taken to the extreme. It can be difficult to discern this given the height many players wore their white socks at the time.

I will try to get back to you tomorrow with some visual evidence to help.

Not a bad view of the striping pattern on the sock featuring each jersey - note they are the same socks. I'll try to come up with some better ones tomorrow.

I can't see the pictures you posted. I know it's hard to tell from the screen cap from the 10/7/79 TB at NYG I posted first, but it looked to me in that game the stripes were blue, not red, but from that pic it's not conclusive..... I'll try to find a view during that game with a closer image like in the second pic (from the NYG at TB game) -- In that one they really zoomed in on the offensive line's feet for some reason, you can tell those stripes are really red...

I wanted to get a better one with the blue jersey:

Well, in your pictures the 79 home jersey BLUE, the stripes are clearly red, but I still think in my screenshots from the 10/7/79 TB @ NYG game they look blue, but it is hard to tell. Any chance they had blue sock stripes in just that game, although that wouldn't make sense. Maybe they are red in the screenshots, just hard to see. I'll look again for a closer view.

They're definitely blues socks with white and red stripes. I think the screen shot just kind of distorts the image a bit.
