I saw you updated the 89 Vikings purple jerseys. I think the team used a two-tone jerseys for a few years around 89

I gave Bill a hand with this research the first time around. We looked for games at The Metrodome for consistent lighting. The outdoor games where they wore the purple jerseys (at Tampa Bay for instance) were difficult to judge.

I agree it is harder to tell inside the dome, it is more event in outdoor games such as approx. 12 seconds into 1987 team video ( NFC champ game at Wash) and 88 clip at Dolphins. FWIW I can see the two tones in most of the pictures you provided.

yeah it probably was.
The walker trade and the 40-60 patch easily dates all 1989 photos of Vikings jerseys
