"Resting" Players at the End of the Regular Season Empty "Resting" Players at the End of the Regular Season

As the regular season is moving towards its conclusion, I want to point out how teams that have clinched a set spot in their conference can "rest" players before the playoffs, and what happens when they do "rest" players.

Once your team has clinched a specific seed (not just a playoff spot or division title, because every seed has its own advantages) you can choose to rest the "star" players on your team, in order to "avoid injury" before the playoffs start.
You can choose to sit the offensive, defensive, or both, players on your team.

So, what happens if I sit players?
As you should know by now, each week, there is a possibility that your team will be randomly selected to have rankings changed, in either a positive or negative way. By "resting" players to avoid "injury", you can eliminate the possibility that your team will lose a ranking for the week you're sitting players. However, you team could still be selected to gain rankings points in the week you sit players. So no chance of your team getting worse, but there's still the same chance every week that your team improves.

Sounds like only good things can happen for my team, so what's the catch?
For the week you sit players, you teams rankings on offence and/or defense (depending on which players your sitting) will decrease by 1.

How this works in practice. Say, you want to sit both offense and defense for week 19.
Normally, your teams rankings are offense: 5, defense: 4 (which, you'd never know this). You sit offense and defense for week 19, because you're team is locked into the #2 seed, so no point in risking losing rankings. For week 19, you team would go into the game with rankings of offense: 4, defense: 3.
This of course, would have an effect on the opponents ability to win the game.
For example, you're playing the week 19 game on the road against a team with rankings offense: 2, defense: 4
Without sitting players, the line in this game says your team is 4.5 point favorites.
By sitting players, decreasing your team rankings by 1 on both offense and defense, the line in this game is now that your team is 0.5 point under dogs.

At this time, no team is eligible to sit players, as all teams that have one a division and earned a playoff spot so far, still have a shot at clinching the #1 seed in their conference.

If your team becomes eligible to rest players, just post in this thread that you would like to sit players for the upcoming week (specify offense, defense, or both)

Please ask any questions you may have.

After this weekends results, there are 3 teams eligible to rest players for weeks 18 and 19 so far:

Pennsylvania Keystones (Clinched #1 seed in the Eastern Conference)
Norfolk Commanders (Clinched #2 seed in the Eastern Conference)
Cincinnati Knights (Clinched #4 seed in the Eastern Conference)

Norfolk will be resting both offense and defense for week 18, as previously stated.

Okay, heading into week 19, one more team is eligible to rest players:

Louisville Lightning (South division champions and #3 seed in the Eastern Conference)

Unless I hear differently from Pennsylvania, Norfolk, and Cincinnati, I assume their resting players situation will be the same as last week
(Pennsylvania sat offensive players only)
(Norfolk sat both offensive and defensive players)
(Cincinnati did not sit players)

All other teams in the playoff chance have something to play for this week, whether is be a division title, the #1 seed, a playoff home game, or just a playoff spot.

Lightning will in fact be resting offense and defense for the week 19 game (kicker still has to play cause Pierre-Louis needs all the reps he can get)
