The 2021 regular season is barely over and the first offseason rumors are already starting to appear,

According to insider Bryan Leshefter Dallas Diesel's front office would be very disappointed with the franchise's current status, Diesel's management would also be very unhappy with the AT&T Stadium lease agreement.

Leshefter also says in his report that Dallas Diesel's board considers the franchise's current season a disaster, due to the team's lack of success on the field, the expected number of tickets were not sold, this added to the high operating cost of the AT&T stadium left the franchise close to having serious financial losses.

Another thing that bothered diesel management a lot was the busy schedule at the AT&T stadium that forced the team to reallocate two games for the Cottom Bowl this season.

Another thing that probably got in the way of Diesel's plans was the competitive sports market in Dallas, where there are already several consolidated teams, something that made it difficult for the GSL franchise to build a solid fanbase.

What is likely to happen is the return of a script written nearly 60 years ago, when then-AFL Dallas Texans struggled to build a fanbase in Dallas and as a solution to save the franchise, Lamar Hunt moved the team to Kansas city, becoming the Chiefs.

According to Leshefter's sources, the owner of the team, Rafael Menoncin, has already held meetings with several cities, having even scheduled visits to four stadiums:
TCF Bank stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Highmark stadium, Buffalo, NY
Albertsons stadium, Bosie, Idaho
Autzen stadium, Eugene, Oregon

In the coming weeks Menoncin is expected to meet with the rest of the GSL to debate his team's future home.

Not surprising, given the conflicting events at AT&T stadium encountered this year.

Although, these reports conflict with other reports around the league, of the league pre-approved expansion cities list for the 2022 season (as stated in the off season thread, there is a list of pre-approved cities)

League statement on May 10, 2021 regarding the offseason:

Some notes on relocation and name changes. Unlike the 2021 new team application process, 2022 will have a list of pre-approved cities by the league which new franchises may play (it'll be a pretty good sized list of cities large enough for a franchise, and far enough away from existing teams). Any team wishing to relocate will also have to comply with the accepted list of available cities. As previously stated, if you would like to relocate your team, or change the team name, that must be done by August 30, 2021. You can send me an email at any time before then (starting today even) if you intend to do this for 2022. Moves and team name changes won't be final until September 1, 2021, so you could change your mind up until the move is official. If you relocate your team, or change the team name, you will have to keep that location / team name for 3 full season following the relocation / name change before being able to relocate / change the name again. This is to keep owners from jumping their team around every season, and keeps a little more team consistency, while still allowing owners to move and change their team.

A leaked list, that had been sent out to several prospective owners for the 2022 season shows some of the cities the league has been considering for new teams in 2022. The official list was not expected to be released until after the offseason began.

A move out of Dallas by the Diesel would require an expansion team to be placed in Dallas for the 2022, to fill one of the nations largest metropolitan areas, and given this year's stadium situation, the new team would likely end up in a stadium, other than AT&T stadium (like the Cotton Bowl, or Globe Life Park, former home of the XFLs Dallas Renegades).

The choice for Dallas in a relocation will also have to be a wise one, again given the league statement above, regarding name changes and relocation restrictions.

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out, and what influences the rest of the league has on the decision coming by Dallas.

Perhaps the new Dallas/Arlington market team could play at Old Globe Life Field (Where the Rangers used to play). It's an established stadium in the area that's already been renovated for football with the XFL's Dallas Renegades.
