Vancouver Bears - Logo Design
Starting a new thread for the team design process for the Vancouver Bears. It seems smaller threads load quicker, and the forum has been slow for me lately.
We will start with the Bears team designs first, and finish them, before moving on to the Buffaloes (so keep ideas for the Buffaloes in mind for later).
Logos and wordmarks come first, then we will finish off with uniforms and fields.
Whatever ideas you have for logos and wordmarks, just post them in this thread. Even if you're not as skilled in graphic design as others in this league, a verbal description could go a long way into helping someone else try to put down in a design that you can explain verbally. The team design process here is a league collaboration effort.
Since we already have some concepts floating around from rbronish, I'll start this thread off posting his proposed designs, plus some ideas I had on how they'd work on color backgrounds.
Original designs by rbronish:
I'm personally a big fan of what he's already done, especially the wordmark.
Were we differ slightly is how I would put the logos on color, or really, just the wordmark.
Here's what my thoughts on that were originally:
But, after seeing how rbronish does the leaf with the main fill color white, I believe that's the better way to go:
I think the other hard part about coloring is with the wordmark, and that extra outline. rbronish decided to go with white wordmark, red outline, and silver outer outline. Here's three other possibilities:
Personally, my favorites are the top examples in each, with just a single white outline over a solid red or green.

I know a lot got posted in that first post of this thread, but, any different ideas that anyone else has, please post them. As many ideas as we can get will go a long way to finding something that we can all agree on. In the end it could help us combine designs, use elements from one design in another, etc.

Another note I want to add:
I know we all settled on a color scheme, but there are some areas where I'd like to be more flexible.
The primary color, red and green, should be the exact shade as we decided on.
Accent colors (white and silver in this case), are where the flexibility comes in. Since these are just accents, you don't have to use these colors. If you don't want silver, don't use it. Alternatively, you can add other accent colors, in the form of other shades of green and red as needed. I'll use the Wisconsin Stags as an example here. They have multiple shades of red and green, the primary colors, but they are more like accent colors for shading. So that is allowed. This would mean, when we get to the Buffaloes, you must use brown and tan, the primary colors, and can shade those colors lighter or darker, if that helps your design, as accents. You could also exclude either navy or red if you so choose. That was my intention behind these color schemes. Hopefully this flexibility helps people with designs.

Re: Vancouver Bears - Logo Design
Since things seem to change quickly around here, I want to go over scenarios for what happens to this thread if a new owner comes along to clan Vancouver.
As you may have seen in a new thread on the forums, a new owner has claimed the Kansas City Buffaloes. Since we weren't very far in the design process, he's going to take over team design from here.
For Vancouver, anything we come to a consensus on as a league, any new owner will have to take those design elements as is for the 2022 season. Since I've already opened this thread for creating team designs, and I know some of you are working on ideas, I don't want that work to be done for nothing if a new owner comes and takes the team. As I said before, anything we decide here, will be decided for the 2022 season.
If anyone has any questions about this, please ask me.

Upscaled Curtis' image, although, I have to admit, the facial features are hard to upscale when the original starts out so small. I kind of just have to round things off. I don't know if someone would like to try and improve on that.

That there is one ferocious beast! Very nice.
I'm liking the realistic bear the best so far. Maybe the middle wordmarks from above (solid backgrounds with solid color mark with white midline, then silver outline).
The V logo makes a good fauxback logo if you ask me.

Well that's impressive. I'll agree with Frank on the "V" logo as a good faux back designs for a "retro" night in Vancouver, that would go with one color, and one white faux back jersey. Would be pretty cool.
I definitely like the front facing bear head logo better than the flat side view bear logo.

Re: Vancouver Bears - Logo Design
Since my mind always goes to fields and endzones, I tried a green and red endzone.
Red of course works better with the green logo, but the logo for sure should be green, as it is, in my opinion.

Anyone else want to share opinions on the Bears designs so far? Like what you see? Think something should be changed? Anything else?

I said some of this already, but I think this could be wrapped up. The realistic bear would be hard to top, and the wordmark is good. I really do think the V logo needs to be part of a fauxback set.

Wow, that's a good bear logo! I will agree with Frank with using these logos and the older logo with a throwback uniforms. I like the work marks form the end zone mock ups, with two ourlines.

Re: Vancouver Bears - Logo Design
I think the realistic bear logo looks great. Just two things:
1. I personally would change the perspective to more of a head on or overhead view, gives the logo a better shape.
2. I think the details of the logo become lost at a smaller size, so I would make the eyes a little bigger and simplify the shadows a little bit.
Fantastic overall but those are just my two suggestions.

I think that we're to the point where we can start with some uniform designs.
For more visibility, I'm going to start a new thread for that process.
