Re: GSL Power Rankings 2022
Good afternoon everyone. Let me preface with saying that these power rankings are not standings, they're a visualization of how strong a team actually is.
My formula is based on last year's Snelick Index
. First it ranks each team in the following factors:
- The average betting line from the league office
- A neutral line, meaning points added to the home team's line and points subtracted from the visiting team's line. (The neutral line equals the betting line for neutral site games like the International Series and "away home games" like Carolina in Clemson and Washington in Charlottesville). Second home stadiums for teams like Colorado, Dallas, Wisconsin and Birmingham, are not neutral sites.
- Points for
- Points against
- The average score differential of each game; either a positive with a win or a negative with a loss
- Adding the average line to the average score differential
- Strength of Victory
- Strength of Schedule
- And wins minus losses
The formula then averages each factor ranking into a final ranking, which are released and debated.

Wow, kind of crazy that after a 3-0 start, Washington made it all the way to the bottom of the rankings, is just 7 games.

Re: GSL Power Rankings 2022
Always interesting to see where team shape up in this.
Surprising that the Royals are at the top for instance. Boston has had an easy schedule, so their positions makes some sense. It'll be interesting how they play in the playoffs. The Brewers defense alone would put them at the top for me, but, the Royals have a sneaky good defense this season as well.
