The new Atlanta GSL team design thread

With the Flying Fleet not returning this season I have decided to fill Atlanta’s vacancy in the GSL with a new team. Since Atlanta is well known for its music scene the new team will derive its identity from OutKast’s album ATLiens and be named the Atlanta Aliens and have blue (R:20 G:120 B:174), green (R:177 G:208 3: 80) and black be the team’s colour scheme. The uniform design will be inspired by Georgia Tech’s first Adidas uniforms as you can see below. The logo will be a simple green alien logo with sublimated football laces and the word mark will be a retro futuristic one.

The Logos for the Aliens
I made a simple alien head logo as well as a roundel logo that will be used for the field



The roundel will get an update with the proper font and the colours have been brightened a bit to make things pop (blue: #00A4FD Green: #9ED82F)

Heres a logo for one of the two alternate helmets.
Its inspired by the New England Patriots first helmets with the tricorne hat placed over the numbers.

I’ll be working on the throwback logo (it will be familiar) as well as what I would like the end zones to look like (since I don’t know how to do fields) this week.

End zone designs for the main field. Since I’ll need help with the fields I would like the primary logo to be in the centre for both the main field and the whiteout field. The end zones for the main field will be the team wordmark on a blue background as can be seen here. I’m going to work on the font for the whiteout field end zones.

The A here is a custom font I think, but here is a link to the high res version of this logo.

For the throwback field, I would like to model it after this Falcons field with the same end zone style (black with Aliens in blue) with no logos on the field save for any GSL logos that may be required.

The logo placement on the throwbacks is going to pretty much match the Toronto Argonauts uniforms when John Candy and Wayne Gretzky owned the team

End zones for the whiteout field

I'm not sure what you're looking for with the endzones on the white out field. The actual endzone background color cannot be white. I believe, even with some space as a boarder between the goal line and sidelines, the background color cannot be white, based on NFL and college field rules, as that would cause too much confusion with the goal line / sidelines.

The lightest endzone color thats been painted that I am aware of was the Eagles silver in Super Bowl XV

The throwbacks so far, I am having a hard time with placing the shoulder logo and finding a way to create a mesh effect with the name and numbers.

I put the Aliens main uniforms on my standard template.
Also took a good look at the Georgia Tech uniforms that these are inspired by to get the sleeve and pants striping as close as possible. Added the shoulder numbers as well.


I can get to work on the throwbacks next, and add the "A" logo to the shoulders.

The next and final phase of the Aliens designs is the uniform schedule like many if not all NFL teams do every year. This will obviously only happen once the GSL schedule drops.

Given what the Bengals will be rolling out Thursday night, there is at least some precedence for a whiteout type endzone.
And with that, it gives me an acceptable template for the Alien white out field.

The endzone still has to be a shade of gray (same shade as the Bengals are using), and will have a 1 inch outline of the normal endzone color (again, similar to what the Bengals are doing).


Let me know if this is an acceptable white out field, and this can be added for Atlanta for the 2023 season.

The home blues will be worn for 5 home games (6 if there are 9 home games) this season, the throwbacks will be worn twice at home and the whiteout for one home game against a division rival. The alternate uniforms will change every year.

The Atlanta Aliens will be playing one home game at the University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium next season and I decided to turn the blackout look into a Georgia themed look with the Georgia red jerseys. They're just missing numbers and names with the new font I posted earlier along with collar spikes that Georgia's black uniforms used to have.

For 2024 the Atlanta Aliens will use the white field full time for all home games at Mercedes Benz Stadium. The Aliens will also play 2 home games (1 if we host an international game) at the University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium. We will use the current Georgia Bulldog field design for Sanford Games.
