The 1929 Minneapolis Red Jackets wore red head-to-toe
According to the October 18, 1929, Green Bay Press-Gazette, the Minneapolis Red Jackets wore "a scarlet ensemble... which varies not in color from their helmets to their shoes."
Various reports that year claim the the Red Jackets purchased the most expensive uniforms in the NFL, and the Red Jackets did say that their uniforms would surprise fans.
These images are from the October 7, 1929, Minneapolis Journal, from a game between the Red Jackets and the Chicago Bears. The Red Jackets have the stripes on their sleeves. The color of the pants in the Red Jackets ensemble clearly varies a shade from their jerseys but the pants do appear darker than the Bears' pants. Is it possible they truly did wear red from head to toe?

All-red uniforms make them "appear small"
In the September 21, 1929, Wisconsin State Journal, the newspaper states "the Marines [the Red Jackets] are wearing all-red uniforms."
In the October 7, 1929, Minneapolis Journal, Halsey Hall said, "the Red Jackets were impressive with their red trappings from head gear to socks but the red made them appear small." This indicates that perhaps their shoes were black but still their pants were red. A one-color uniform might make someone "appear small."
I would suggest the Red Jackets did wear pants in a shade of red. In other words, red helmets, red jerseys, red pants, and red socks.
