Week 14 - 2023

Week 14 Kicks Off As we approach the decisive moments of the regular season, we are about to see some interesting duels this weekend.
 
In Saturday night football two division leaders are expected to clash into an entertaining game, The Birmingham Owls and their well-trained defense will face the Western conference Pacific division leaders, the Oakland Icons, both teams are considered the biggest surprises of this season as their previews during the offseason weren’t that optimistic about those two teams, the Owls are 10-2 and are tied with another two teams (Toronto and New York are also 10-2)  for the Eastern Conference number 1 seed. Oakland as now is leading the Western Conference Pacific with an 8-4 record, the same as their divisional rivals, the Seattle Sockeyes, the Icons are ahead due tie breaker. A Loss here may cost dearly for both teams playoff intentions.
 
Another game with huge playoff implications is the Sunday afternoon showdown between two division rivals. The Boston Bobcats (7-5) are scheduled to play the Baltimore Bluebirds (8-4). Both rivals are behind the current leaders, the New CityHawks (10-2), but those two are still dreaming of a wildcard spot. A win here may be precious, and it's also a chance to possibly knock off one of their rivals from the playoffs. I’m interested to see what’s going to happen on this one.
 
Miami and Toronto also have the potential to be great games; the Sol desperately needs a win here to keep their playoff seed chase alive. On the other hand, Toronto is coming off a loss to Boston, and they sure want to make sure that will not happen again as tight as the Eastern Conference number 1 seed battle is.
 
But the game of the week is Sunday's late window match featuring the LA Express and the Salt Lake Trappers, set to have one clash between two of the most talented rosters in the GSL. I'm curious to see what the explosive LA offense can do against the strong Trappers defense; sure, it will be an interesting matchup!

If history pans out, the LA/SL game is gonna be a banger either way. Salt Lake held LA to 19 points in their first tilt. We'll see what happens when the #3 D (LA) squares off against the #5.

Gonna be a big game in the West. Our only outside chance at winning the division is a Salt Lake win, so we're going to have to root for you (just this week).
On the other hand, we need you to lose, so we have a better chance at getting the wild card, so we're going to have to root against you, as usual. A tie is acceptable.

Don't worry, we'll be rooting against the Outlaws this week.

A clutch win for us. We almost blew it, but we had a goal-line stop. Lets gooooooooo. Birmingham is now 11-2, and Birmingham fans will be big Portland fans. Both the owls and stallions got a win today on the road.
