The Second Canadian Bacon World Cup

The Canadian Bacon World Cup is coming back this year and will be played from Labour Day Weekend (first weekend of September) to Canadian Thanksgiving (October 9th 2023).

The tournament will keep the 16 team format and I’m hoping to have anywhere from six to eight owners participate this year. Each owner will provide two teams and these can be UWFFL, GSL, or from your own leagues. Returning participants are encouraged to use different teams if possible. I will be sending my two UWFFL teams that I didn’t use last time: the Dallas Outlaws and Providence Steamrollers.

Like last year, games will be played at owners’ GSL stadiums.

Applications are open until August 1st.

The defending champions are Curtis Peddle’s Iowa Corn.

I am coming back for this years CB World Cup. I am bringing the GSL Miami SOL and I am creating a new team The Arizona Wranglers (Using the old template from the USFL days but modernized. I figured I would bring them back, since next year the Arizona team will be the Outlaws for USFL season 3!)

Just a little back history. On the 1984 campaign the Chicago Blitz and Arizona Wranglers traded franchises. Bringing a veteran team to Tempe, and a very young team to Chicago. Arizona played almost the entire second half of the season on the road due to the severe heat. And though designed, never wore their "sedona red" home uniforms. These two uniforms represent what the original uniforms might look like if the team existed today. Sadly I could not recreate the "flames" on the pants. I hope you all like.

(I originally had the Albuquerque Orbit but I just couldn't think of any designs.)

The second “third team” needs to be submitted by Sunday August 20th at midnight. Only a team name needs to be submitted as if you need to design your third team the deadline for designs is September first.

The group selection will occur on the next day August 21st. The Iowa Corn are automatically in group A.
