The g logo actually started out in the shape of a football rather than than the current oval. They had that shape from 1961 through 1967. After that they went to the current shape. Also, the first year the logo was made up of two seperate stickers with a whote oval and a smaller green g outline in green on top of that. it created a white outline to the logo that is visable throughout that season. Some helmets still had those stickers after that, but many were changed before 1962
