Not 100% sure, but I think it's for Brandon Burlsworth; he died in a traffic crash few days after being drafted by the Colts in the 1999 Draft

The Buffalo Bills will wear a "WWFD" (West Webster Fire Department) decal to honor the firefighters who were killed during an early morning ambush in Webster, N.Y., on Monday.

Confirmed that SF will wear SHES decal in the Super Bowl.
Baltimore will continue to NOT wear it.

Patriots affixed a DSB decal in memorial of Don Brocher, their equipment manager who passed away just after season's end for the Divisional Round playoff against Houston.
They will likely wear the decal as long as they continue playing this season.


**Update**
The Patriots did NOT wear the DSB decal for the AFC Championship Game opting to only wear the SHES decal.

I believe the 1990 us flag decal was only used the last two regular season weeks and than the play-offs not the full season

The decal for Kirk Collins was a dark blue circle with yellow numbers.

I believe our own BigBlueLarry is tabulating the who's and when's of which teams are wearing the decals on their helmets.

It appears that everyone is wearing the 'camo-ribbon' in Week 10. (Dallas and Minnesota started early and actually wore the ribbons and Military Service decals last week in Week 9!)

One addition I noticed yesterday was that Charles Tillman of the Bears had 6 different Military Service decals on his helmet.
It appeared that the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Army and Air Force decals were the same as last year.
However, it looks as though he and several other players have an additional US ARMY decal.

While reading the Chiefs' website "Uniform History" page, I noticed it said that, at the end of 2006 for the last 3 weeks after Lamar Hunt's passing, the Chiefs wore an "LH" helmet decal similar to the 2005 Hank Stram "HS" decal. The following year they would add the perma-memorial patch to their jerseys in Hunt's honor.

After former Browns Hall of Famer Mike McCormack died on 11/15, the Browns wore a decal with the initials "MM" and a Browns helmet, which you can see in the link below. They began wearing it in the 11/24 home game vs. Pittsburgh, and kept it on for the other five games. It seemed to get minimal attention in the media, which might help explain why I missed it:

Seems like the numbers are silver and not white in the Scott Mitchell photo.



Seems this was worn JUST for the Wildcard game as Reggie Brown suffered a spinal cord injury in the last game of the 1997 season - the week before this playoff game.

On the Scott Mitchell photo, there doesn't appear to be the little serif on the top-right portion of the 5, just a straight line across the top.

Similar to the AFC Championship sighting of the Raider decals for Steve Wisniewski's brother Vince as a show of support; I glimpsed a similar decal on the back of Scott Norwood's helmet when ABC showed him warming up for his missed field goal.


There's a clip from ABC's pregame coverage where a graphic ran showing the players who had relatives fighting in Desert Storm. Possibly in this case the decal was a show of support for Scott's brother-in-law; Bob Merchant (don't remember seeing decals on the backs of the helmets for any other players with family in Desert Storm).

I wish someone would post a better photo of the Lions' patch.
The graphic version has the borders WAAAAAAY too thin compared to the actual patch.
But the only photo of the patch was in some funky lighting that made all of the white look blue.

America's NFL have put in place plans to embrace Remembrance Sunday with a lot more detail than previously shown by British sports in honouring the war dead.

Jacksonville and Dallas meet at Wembley on November 9 in the third regular-season NFL game there this autumn.

And, in a partnership with the Royal British Legion, the uniforms and helmets of both teams will feature the poppy logo, which will also be displayed to big effect on the pitch.

As yet, I have not seen a version of this decal-to-be.

For the 2015-16 playoffs (Jan-Feb 2016), teams changed from normal NFL Shield helmet decal to a gold NFL shield helmet decal.
