Here's one that inexplicably slipped by --- the Giants had an alternate pair of socks (white with 3 blue stripes and 2 red stripes) that they wore on two occasions with their blue jerseys.

From 1986 - 1988 Dallas should be the same as what is in the database for 1989, the Cowboys white stripe is much wider than the blue ones (both sets of pants).

Larry,
A) for the NYG vs NO photo, are you basing the white socks off of #43 back on the sidelines?
B) Are you certain these were the only 2 occurrences?

C) Is it just me or do you notice that the number patch on the hip in the Dallas/Denver photo is a different blue than the stripes? It looks more 'royal' than the darker blue of the stripes. At the same time, the number patch on the silver pants looks to be navy to match the navy stripes.

Because of the differences due to light and film quality, I've never been 100% convinced that we have the colors of the Cowboys pants straightened out from 1974 forward after they did away with the grey pants they had used from 1964-73. In some cases the color seems to change from year to year and game to game.

Hey bill,

A) yes - i have a B/W pic of this game in one of my book, i can scan it and forward it in an email tonight. I had always assumed it had the 3 red 2 blue stripe pattern they used in 1976 with the blue pants. It wasn't until i saw that color Craig Morton photo that I knew they were completely different. I have other pics from 1975 that show the blue sock with the blue jerseys. Both St.Louis Cardinals games and the home game vs Dallas.

B) yes, you are right about that different color hip # patch. It could be an anomaly but maybe it requires some more digging.

Giants vs Baltimore Colts 12/7/75 - looks like a 3rd occurrence! although, at least one player #55 is wearing the blue socks, most of the others are wearing the alternate white ones.
