The Saints had a wider pants stripe pattern starting in '71, including a broad center stripe.

As for these 70-71 numbers being outlined, any chance we could get a larger sampling of photos?

the thing about those outlined numbers is they don't show up well on B/W photos. The color ones I found are large with good resolution, otherwise I might never have noticed. I will keep looking. In the meantime, the number font on those jerseys are different than the ones without the gold trim, so I will use that as a clue. I also suspect that they used both jersey sets in 1971, gold outline and non-gold outline.
