Undated photo. Could be preseason 1978, 1979 or regular season 1980, but I'm pretty sure it's from the 1979 preseason --> 8/12/1979 Rams at Patriots.

This photo is dated 8/4/79.

Here's a newspaper shot confirming that solid (blue?) socks were worn with the red pants in the 8/19/79 Oakland game.

Here's the only newspaper shot I could find of the 8/4/79 NE@ATL game.
While it doesn't prove the solid socks, it does show monowhite.
Since NE wore solid red socks when the white pants were paired with the red jerseys throughout the season, logic says the red socks were likely worn here.
