Inaugural Gridiron Bowl

This will be the official thread for all things Gridiron Bowl I.
That includes uniform selections (I'll add the logo to the jerseys), field design, and everything else Gridiron Bowl.

The Western Conferences #1 seed, the Arizona Eagles, will meet up with the Eastern Conferences #2 seed, the Norfolk Commanders (which it seems may be their final game as the Norfolk Commanders).

I'd like to get the uniform selections for the Gridiron Bowl by Tuesday next week. That'll be "media day", so the field and uniforms should be set by then.

I'll make a Gridiron Bowl preview news story to release that day. If either of the owners of the teams in the game have anything to say, I'll use that.
If any other owners have anything to say regarding the 2021 season and the Gridiron Bowl, I may also use that in the story as well.

I wouldn`t be surprised if disgruntled Flying Fleet owner Holecko makes an appearance at the Gridiron Bowl and tries to create some kind of havoc, like the sideline incident earlier this season where he wanted to take over the coaching duties of the Fleet... Keep your eyes peeled ...

The Eastern Conference is home for the Redemption Game, Gridiron Bowl, and All-Star Game on odd years, and the Western Conference will be home on the even years.
So Norfolk is home.

Field painting begins today in the Superdome.

The Royals regular season field has been cleaned away, and the field is prepped and ready to go for painting.

Since I will be out of town this weekend, and won't have access to internet (or, at least, I'm not counting on it), I've come up with a way to insure the Gridiron Bowl simulates correctly, with no double game, or weird play by play.

For a brief moment today, the game time for the Gridiron Bowl was set at 2:30PM this afternoon. This allowed me to go into the game center and have the game simulate. I was able to peak into the database and get the game code for the NFL game to map to, and then hard code that game code in, so that when the Gridiron Bowl simulates Sunday at 6:25, it'll actually just grab the game data of that pre-simulated game from today. This keeps the simulation aspect valid, since the computer simulated the game, and I was able to check the game for any problems. I also did a quick check after re-setting the database, to make sure that when the game simulates again, it will be the hard coded game code, and it did as intended.

So, hopefully no unexpected issues Sunday, but I think we're all set to go. I'm able to do my checks without seeing the final score, which is great, so I'll be excited to see who comes away on top this Sunday!

Congratulations to the Arizona Eagles, the Inaugural Gridiron Bowl Champions!

It looks like the simulation went smoothly, which is good. I wasn't able to check in on the game as it was going on, but I did check in at the beginning, and it looked like the simulation was working as intended.
