1979 Eagles & Bears
I was looking at the Eagles-Bucs 12/29/1979 playoff game, and I believe on their road unis they have the postseason sleeve stripes that they also wore in 1981 postseason (and we also have listed for 1978 season). I haven't looked at Eagles regular season so I don't know what they wore then. For all I know they may have worn the multiple striped pattern from 1978 the whole season in 1979.
So I decided to check Bears-Eagles wild card game - 12/23/79 - to see if the same was true for their home unis also. This is what they wore:
You'll notice also the Bears (most everyone, except #65 and the guy to the left of the two at the sideline in the below pic with #16 - maybe theirs fell off) was wearing a black armband on their left sleeve:
I checked other Bears games -- December 2 at Tampa they weren't wearing it:
December 16 vs. St. Louis they weren't wearing it, although the Cardinals were wearing an armband for TE J.V. Cain, which we do have in database...
It turns out the black armband was for George Halas Jr. (Team President & Papa Bear's son) who died Dec. 16 hours before the Cardinals game. They wore the armband for only the Eagles Wild Card game.
So I believe we need to add the Eagles 1979 post-season only home-and-away unis, and we need to add Bears' Halas Jr. armband for 12/23/79 Wild Card Game only. And we need to check to see if the Eagles wore these unis all year long, but we at least need to add them to 1979 for the postseason.

Here's a 11/26/79 newspaper pic of the Eagles game. Poor quality, but we can make out the stripes:

Rob,
I agree with you on the Bears one-off black armband.
However, I think I'll disagree with you on the Eagles. The 1981 playoff game vs the Giants had three set sleeve stripes; shoulder white/silver/white, middle thick white, sleeve white/silver/white.
The 1979 playoff jerseys are the same as was worn in the regular season. These are two set sleeve stripes as opposed to three set stripes. The white jerseys have the shoulder green/silver/green stripes then a solid green stripe, but NO lower g/s/g set of stripes. Likewise the green jerseys have the shoulder white/silver/white stripes then a a solid white stripe, but NO lower w/s/w set of stripes.
The only change that Bill may need to perform is possibly a slight thickening the solid set and somehow moving them up closer to the shoulder set of stripes.
I do recall that these Eagles jerseys were quite tricky for Bill to do. I'm OK with the way they are now. But if Bill wants to give it a shot, that's up to him.

Re: 1979 Eagles & Bears
OK I thought it was just me. I wasn't seeing the 'missing stripe' either.
The only thing I saw...
on the green jersey vs Bears
- the uppermost 3-stripe combo, I think we have the middle silver too thick. The outers should be thick and the middle thin.
- the bottom white stripe needs to be thicker and angled up leaving more of the green below than what we have.
Ditto on the white jerseys...but with the other colors.
Tim, can you confirm for me if this is just '79 or if the entire run from 74-84 should be like this?
Oh and I updated the Bears 1979 and emailed them to Rob.

Tim & Bill
You're probably right about the stripes.... it's just the ratio between the points that could maybe be tweaked...

Re: 1979 Eagles & Bears
Bill,
If you remember, we really hashed it out really hard on this era for the Eagles. I stand by what we did originally.
Here's the difference:
The triple set sleeve stripes were normal mesh jerseys.
The double set sleeve stripes were what was called "wire" mesh jerseys. The body portion was the wire mesh material. It was like a "see thru" jersey as you could see the shoulder pads, and undershirts under the padding. The shoulder and sleeve portion of this jersey were made of the normal mesh materials.
The only other NFL teams that I remember wearing wire mesh for regulare season games were the Seahawks and Buccaneers. However, their wire jerseys did not impact the striping or design.

Re: 1979 Eagles & Bears
Can someone hash together a side-by-side-by-side-by-side comparison of
the 1974 full length sleeves, the other 1979 options, this one, and 1984 (the last year of this jersey)? Only need green jerseys b/c white will be the same.
I'm curious to see if there was an evolution to this thing or if it stayed the same.

Re: 1979 Eagles & Bears
Here's some more screenshots -- don't know if they'll help any, but here goes:
9/25/77 Philadelphia at Los Angeles
11/27/77 Philadelphia at New England
12/24/78 Philadelphia at Atlanta (Wild Card Game)
9/12/82 Washington at Philadelphia
11/11/84 Philadelphia at Miami
You can see the 1977 image really does look like the ratios you had between the stripes, as opposed to the 1979 Bucs game pics

Re: 1979 Eagles & Bears
OK it sure looks to me as though up through the 1977 (season) game vs NE, what we have is correct - the big empty space between the tri-stripe and the horizontal bottom stripe.
But the 1978 picture shows that the big empty space has shrunk, the big horizontal bottom stripe is much bigger and angled parallel to the upper tri-stripes, and theirs more empty space before the end of the sleeve.
And it seemed to stay this way through 1984.

More evidence of mixing and matching from a 1979 week 15 game at home vs. Dallas:
Jaworski with large gap green between stripes, lineman with small green gap
Jerry Robinson (#56) with large green gap, John Sciarra with small gap
