1959 Eagles

You guys have been awesome with challenges like this so I'm throwing one more out to you.


We know in Week 1 that the Eagles wore the white jerseys with the NW sleeve stripes in their game @ SF.
The rest of the season is up for grabs. I know these are a little older than the ones we've been dealing with but what kind of photos can you dig up?

Week 2 - 10/4 NYG @ PHIL - GREEN JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 3 - 10/11 PITT @ PHIL - GREEN JERSEY/SILVER PANTS

Week 7 - 11/8 - PHIL @ CLE - 2-striped JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 8 - 11/15 - CHI CARDS @ PHIL - GREEN JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 9 - 11/22 - LA @ PHIL - GREEN JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 10 - 11/29 PHIL @ PITT - 2-striped JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 11 - 12/6 PHIL @ WASH - 2-striped JERSEY/SILVER PANTS
Week 12 - 12/13 CLE @ PHIL - GREEN JERSEY/SILVER PANTS

For home games, the Eagles will be in green jerseys (no WAH) but we need to know which pants. The white ones will be striped. The silver ones won't.
For the away games, we need 2 things. Are they in the 2-stripe jerseys or the NW striped jerseys? We will also need to know about pants (white vs silver).

Pg 13 of 18 has 2 photos that show Philly in pants that seem darker than Pittsburgh's white ones. I'm saying silver pants for 10/11.


The November 29 game in Pittsburgh was in a snow storm and I can't locate a clear enough photo.

Looks like the following for the two Giants games:

For the 10/4 game, both teams were in grey (silver) pants? If Philly were in white pants they'd appear lighter than NYG's. The green jerseys were unstriped.

For the 10/19 we have grey pants and 2-striped white jersey. Good. Could you do a screen print of the 2 and send them to my email up top?

Photo in Toledo Blade - p11 of 19
Seems to show 2-stripe white jersey and silver pants for 11/8.

BD, that was the snowstorm photo I was referring to. You cant see sleeve stripe pattern and you cant make out white/grey pants as the Steelers are wearing yellow so it makes comparisons difficult.

I like AP Images as a source. Even though you can't directly link to the photos, they are pretty accurate with their dates.

It's too bad they only had for those 4 straight weeks, but hey...I'll take it.

Checking both the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Chicago Tribune, I found the ones below. Since it strongly appears that they wore the silver pants for every game, my original listing of white pants for the 12/13 game might need another look. I also marked down the 11/15 game, which confirms what has already been posted:

10/25 (Chi): 2-stripe jersey, silver pants (CT)
11/8 (Cle): 2-stripe jersey, silver pants (CPD)
12/13 (Cle): Green jersey, white pants (CPD)

I found these in a folder marked 1959 12-13 browns @ eagles. So what are the pants? White or grey/silver?

They look pretty silver to me--especially in comparison to the ref's white pants.

I say silver also b/c the white ones would have the 2 thin green stripes down the side.
