GSL 2021 Week 5

Week 5 of the GSL season starts tonight, in a battle of rival owners.

The Bluebirds travel west to Las Vegas to take on a winless Outlaws team. Baltimore has been back and fourth on the year with wins and losses, and are hoping to start stacking wins. The Outlaws would just like a win.

The Flying Fleet are looking for their first win of the season against the South division's current leaders. Atlanta comes into this game as slight favorites, so maybe this is the week they get things moving in the right direction, in a divisional game.

Battle of 2 of the 3 "Louis" cities in the league. The Lightning come in as strong favorites on the road in this divisional matchup.

The Diesel are coming off a big upset win over the Comets last week, and want to keep that momentum going. They head to Canada to take on a Terror team who just suffered their first loss on the season, looking to get back to winning. Toronto will be the home favorites, in what looks to be the high scoring game of the week.

The Stags have had a back and forth season so far, and are looking to stabilize things against the winless Brewers. KDSF has full coverage of this game, in the GSL game of the week.

Memphis @ Pennsylvania 3/21 1:00PM
This may be the Keystones biggest test on paper so far this season. The Comets, coming off a disappointing upset loss in Dallas last week, were probably looking ahead to this week's matchup against one of the leagues best teams, in the Pennsylvania Keystones. The Keystones have put together strong showings all year, and hope to continue their great start, with a win against the Comets. Memphis has under preformed this season, losing two games in which they were the favorites. A win in this one will give them some real credibility with the rest of the league.

The Express have shown they are in any game this season, after another big upset win for them last week. They will need to win in another big upset this week if they want to beat a decent Seattle team.

Two of the better team record wise face off in Arizona this weekend as the Stars take on the Eagles. The Eagles are favored in this one, in a bod to go to 5-0 to start the season. The Stars are trying to keep atop the East division.

The Atoms had a rough loss last week, but are hoping to rebound this week at home against the Sol, who are on a 2 game win streak.

The Sunday night matchup will see a team with a great offense and no defense, take on a team with no offense and great defense. The Texans have gotten the wins while the Knights have not. Cincinnati needs a win this week if they want to get themselves into the wild card race at all this season. The Texans would like to keep themselves on top of the Central division.

The Monday night matchup will see the leagues 5th ranked offense in San Diego matchup against the leagues 2nd ranked defense in Oakland. This divisional matchup could play big down the stretch in the playoff race.

Exciting game in Las Vegas last night. The Outlaws were able to earn their first win of the season, with a last minute drive and a game winning touchdown. The loss puts Baltimore in the basement of a tight East division race.

I don't have the score summaries this week; that code is being reworked a bit while I continue to work towards live updates.

Both 4-0 teams won, and Atlanta got their first win of the season. The Brewers seem to be hanging out in the league basement for the time being.

Yea, the league is evening out a bit. The SOL lost a real close gome today. That happens when your veteran QB is inconsistant, and you have to start a 4th round rookie QB. Just ask the Cardinals with the 2019 season. Even though he was the 1st pick in the draft. Kyler Murray was everywere in that 5 and 11 season. ;-)

Oh Stanstill was a 4th round pick? We were promoting him as 1st round pick in the broadcast... if I had a nickel for every error that Jackson and Dick made, I'd be rich... Did you hear Jackson called Stanton "Bortles" a couple times too, lol?

Once I got the partial roster. I imagined Stanstill like a Brady or a Montana. Just needed the opportunity, but not a world beater right away. Enough "flash" but with a lot of rough edges. :-)

I'm moving the start of tonights game back to 8:00 (I'll be busy at 6:30). I'd like to be watching the live out put, and work on fixes in real time as the game is live tonight.

There will be a GSL Game Center link on the normal weekly pages that will take you to live games. I'll put that link up when I'm done testing for the afternoon.

The link goes to any live games (right now there are none).

In the game center, when a game is live, clicking on a team uniform takes you to a single matchup view of the game. That page will include a box score and play by play. I need to add score summary as well when I do live code updates during the live game tonight. I'd also like to add a link below each game in the game center, that takes you to the single matchup view of each game.

I've got several things to work on, like the box score table, which gets negative numbers sometimes (not sure why).

Due to a crazy evening over here, the start time for the live game is set for 8:15.

I won't be doing any work tonight while the game is live.

Anyone watching, you will need to manually refresh the game center page to get the score to update (I have a fix for this for later).
If anything seems weird or looks wrong, put it in a list, and after the game, or when you're done following, post me a whole list of errors and what not.

Alright, just hopped on, first thing I notice is that the entire play-by-play for the whole game is listed and the game just started.
EDIT: Fixed itself after the kickoff it seems.

I saw that too. I removed play by play for now. Don't know why that happened. Worked right with my tests earlier. Oh well. That's what these tests are for.

Did the dev team just turn it over? They had the ball inside the 5 and now Salt Lake just scored.
Edit: Looks like that may have been another error. After the extra point the points were given to GSL.
Edit 2: Points seem to be switching in between both teams after each play.

I think I need to stop the game.

There's two sets of game data inserted into the database, so it's jumping back and forth between two games.

This is a locking issue. Too many people tried accessing the game at start time, so it simulated twice. That's a tougher issue to solve.

I'm going to start the game over.

Right now everything is working fine, even the play-by-play.

Actually, I won't be starting the game over. Now I've got a single game running.

The double simulation problem is still pretty major, so I'll need a fix for that, but for now, play by play looks correct, and you shouldn't see scores jumping around.

One suggestion: Spacing out the play-by-play categories to make it a bit easier to read. Is it possible to format them like the standings and schedules are?

Everything still fine so far except for halftime not being 12 minutes. I remember you saying that you had to work on that.

At least SLC didn't leave points on the field (13-10)

Welp... That lead didn't last long

GSL dev team won the full simulation 24-23. But now it shows a completely unrelated score of 17-24, with a game still going on.

Lots of testing for me to do yet.
The Saturday exhibition game may jump around a lot while I do more testing. This is some crazy stuff, but once I see what data is actually in the database, that might explain a lot. I think a lot of this is based on the game simulating multiple times somehow, when more than just me is in the game center.

I'll have to put the auto refresh back in to reduce individual clicking. I took it out because I think Chrome was mad at the site continually refreshing.

I'm doing some testing this morning to lock the database from multiple simulations of the same game.
No one enter the game center today while I work on this please
