2023 Preseason Week 1

The first day of preseason starts today.

I think (hope) I've got all the simulation stuff in place so that we will have live play by play working for the games tonight. If not, I'll try to get it figured out by tomorrows games. Part of preseason is me making sure everything is working correctly as well, so that way we're all set and ready to go by week 1.

Other note on preseason games; they mean nothing. Anything you see from your team means nothing. I'm not using your actual team to simulate the game, but a random historic NFL team. This keeps the mystery of the 2023 season going just a little bit longer.

It looks like the simulation and live play by play all went as planned last night. Game kicked off on time, and score automatically updated to the website upon game completion.

Hoping to see the other 15 games do the same over the course of the weekend.

Looks like the game is libe now. Vegas is beating up on Miami. But the game center link is on a different page. I found it on week 1

Welp, Birmingham is back to normal and winning in the second half.

Looks like Dallas is causing some issues again.

The issue (which we maty see again with Memphis and Atlanta) has to do with teams that are not the first team to occupy a city, and the internal team_ids.
So, Dallas used to be the Dallas Diesel, with a team ID of DAL. Now they are the Regulators, with a Team ID of DR (because DAL was already taken). The code should have picked up that the display team ID is DAL, and swapped DR for DAL.
It's just a bit screwy with the internal, and external team identifiers.
I'm not sure if the Memphis @ Wisconsin game will work either. These games worked last year, or at least kicked off. I'll have to take a check at game time, and see what I can do.

I seemed to have fixed one of the issues, but team names are not correct. Issue for another day I suppose.

Usually this link will show up for all regular season games on the default page for the GSL as "GSL Game Center". I just haven't gotten that set up for pre-season games.

I'm pretty sure it was like that last season anyways.

It's something I would like to fix for this season though. What's odd is, I don't know why it's happening.

Apparently for MIA-SEA, the simulation had Seattle possessing the ball the entire game on the play by play, though it didn't affect the score.

I guess my game ball for that came goes yo the Seattle offense. As they played as our offense and was the defence as well. Wow.
