I am doing research for a response to a blog on football uniforms. I remember (I think the year was 1972) two players in the NFL wearing their nickname on the jersey backs and the League stepping in after a couple weeks and stopping the nickname practice. The first player was Joe Jones of the Browns who wore "TURKEY" on his jersey and I have found photos and video for proof. The second player that I recall would be Doug Cunningham a 49ers running back from 1967-72 who was nicknamed GOOBER. How would I find this proof to corroborate with my claim?

Not a photo, but the article below notes that Cunningham wore it in the early part of the 1970 season until the NFL cracked down:
