1973 Eagles Helmet change info

Regarding the blog posting about the Eagles helmet from the early 1970's, specifically 1973, this website confirms the black outline for '73: http://www.mikestanhope.com/Eagles.html

I just looked through the entire 1973 Eagles highlight video and did not see any black outlines on helmets.

Where this urban legend ever originated, I don't know. But Good Golly, the Eagles NEVER had a black outline on the 1969-1973 green wings. This is pure revisionist history. It never happened.

I know I sound like Ricko on the UW. But folks, trust me on this one. And even if someone comes to me with the helmet with a black outline on the green wings, I would still question it as a remake.

I know the Mike Stanhope site. I helped contribute to it. But, BD, please believe me. It's a hoax.

That closeup of Harold Carmichael is pretty damning, not to mention definitive. Interesting that The Helmet Hut would sell replicas of the '73 helmets featuring the black trim. They're supposed to be the authority on these things, but no one's infallible.

I just spent the last hour watching the hulu presentation of the Bills/Eagles 1973 game making screen grabs.

No image even remotely shows a black outline.

One 'helmet source' no one has mentioned yet is "The Helmet Project"

No doubt.

Plus when the Eagles went to a new look in 1974, returning the green helmet with silver wings, those wings had a white outline. Probably leading some to think that if this helmet has white outlines, then the previous helmet must have had black outlines on the green wings.

I am with you guys on this. I went into detail on my experiance on one of the other Eagles threads concerning the black outline and I have NEVER SEEN IT, and I collect mainly photos from the 1969-1973 time frame and again, no outline, it is possible that a few helmets had it for whatever reason but not the team as a whole.
