Above is what I would like the 49ers to debut in 2014 when they move into their new stadium (a good excuse to debut a new/revised uni design, plus it meets the league's 5-year minimum from their last redo in 2009).
- The 3 designs on the left reflect how I wish Nike to correct some of the shortcomings of the current 2009 design namely, the truncated sleeve stripes and going back to the 80's look of white cleats (and the option of striped socks)
- The 3 designs on the right are my own preference of an alternate uniform that takes the best elements of the 49ers' 1946-63 early uniforms and combines them into a "fauxback" design namely, the dropshadow numerals, UCLA-type red shoulder striping on the road whites, white home pants and silver/gray road pants, and the silver 1962-63 design helmet (with updated logo). Cleats would remain black due to the "retro" theme of the design, and the same optional striped socks would apply. All the other designs of the 1946-63 Niners unis were a bit too simplistic in my opinion, therefore I utilized what were in my judgement the best elements from that period to come up with a distinctive yet still recognizibly "49ers" looking uniform.
On both sets of uniforms I also changed the wordmark below the collar to the old "49ERS" in Quentin Caps font and also added the old-school "49" shield logo as a chest patch (though for 2014 an "Inaugural Season" new stadium patch would probably be used instead)
My compliments to the template provided by the GUD and apologies for not requesting permission to use it first.
