The simulations have begun!

With the GSL's Miami Sol on the road this weekend, we have chosen Miami as the site for all games for this week's 2015 Champions' League.  At the last minute we decided to invite two additional teams to bring the field to the optimum size of eight.  (It is easier to have two 4-team groups than to have an odd amount of teams in a group.  Sure we could have just done a six-team round robin, but I felt this was easier to keep the similar format, in addition, the Champions' League will have eight teams beginning in 2021 anyways.  The top two teams in each group will advance to the Semifinals.)

The participants are:

The Anchorage Orcas (2014 UWFFL Bowl Champion)
The Minnesota Mustangs (2013 UWFFL Bowl Champion - received spot that returning Champions' League Champ would have gotten if this wasn't the inaugural event)
The Charleston Navigators (2014 Summer Developmental League Champion)
The British Columbia Lumberjacks (2014-15 Maple Leaf Cup Champion)
The New York Sharks (2015 World Bowl Champion, the La Lega Champ)
The St. Joseph's Couriers (2014-15 AAIFA Bowl Champion)

And the two additional invitees:

The Hartford Whalers (2014 UWFFL Bowl Runner-Up)
The Little Rock Diamondbacks (2014 Division II Champion)
The Pontiac Prowlers (2014 Division II Champion)

For this accelerated simulation, all uniforms will be league-chosen.  Teams will be wearing special light and dark versions of their typical alternate uniform from the qualifying season with the silver Champions' League version of the UWFFL patch on the upper right or upper left of the pants.  (as seen in the end zones on the field below)

Follow This Thread for all the action...  First round of group play results will be released tonight.

Schedule:

Group play - Tuesday-Thursday April 13-15, 2021
Semifinals - Friday April 16
Champions League Final - Saturday April 17.

The Champion will receive the first automatic invite to defend their title in the 2021 Champions' League.

Field:

2015 UWFFL Champions' League 2015_Champ_Field

Don't worry, sfcom1, we will leave your field in good shape in time for your next home game April 25 vs. Las Vegas.

Videos will come out each night recapping the action, as well as a video detailing the UWFFL Simulation process as I have promised.

I did it again... the Pontiac Prowlers are the eighth team, not the Little Rock Diamondbacks....   Pontiac defeated Little Rock in the 2014 Division II National Championship.  Am I losing my mind? I think I'm losing my mind.

At any rate, everything above stands except Pontiac instead of Little Rock.  Sigh.

Great work Rob ! Good to see the Prowlers dust off those original unis I designed for them. My Lumberjacks looking great too. Eager to see how the schedule plays out.

With today's results we have decided to move a couple game times for Thursday's action...  The Minnesota-British Columbia game will be moved from 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., the Charleston-Hartford game will be moved from 4:30 P.M. to 12:30 P.M. and the New York-St. Joseph's game will be moved from 12:30 P.M. to 9 A.M.

The Anchorage-Pontiac game will remain at 8 P.M.

The winners of the Minnesota-British Columbia and Anchorage-Pontiac games will join New York and Hartford in Friday's semifinals.

The group winner with the best record will choose which time slot to play in the semifinals. If both New York and Hartford win Thursday to finish 3-0, then any ties will be broken by point differential.

I apologize for the late notice and I hope all players get enough sleep.

No Problem. After the "Eclipse" game. The grounds crew had planned some "Maintenance" anyway. So a new grass playing surface will debuit on April 25th.

That's good to hear... it turns out we really tore it up playing four games a day! Well except for St. Joseph's... they didn't do much damage.
