1952 missing game photos - 2 left
With the season winding down, I thought it would be good to start working again on our remaining gaps...
Here's what's left of 1952. Remember, we need solid photographic proof.
What we are unsure of is in bold...
10/5 (D) – WASH @ GB
10/18 (N) – GB @ DAL
9/28 (D) – Bears @ GB
9/29 (N) – WASH @ CARDS

A photo from the Cleveland Plain Dealer (the game was played in nearby Akron) shows Texan runing back Zollie Toth (#36) leaping into the end zone. He (and a teammate in the background) is wearing a white jersey--with the three stripes. What's odd is that the pants (which are gray according to the database) look incredibly white (or at least very similar to the jersey) in the photo.

*9/28: Green Bay is wearing their gold jerseys and green pants. The photo from the front sports page of the 9/29 Chicago Tribune shows a MUCH lighter uniform than the Bears' Navy blue, whatever. Thankfully, I also jotted down "dark pants" as well.
1/20 EDIT: After a re-check, here's a summary of the latter three:
9/29 (From pg. F1 of the 9/30 Chicago Tribune): Both teams wore dark jerseys, and the Cardinals' helmets are definitely not white. That would seem to indicate that the Cardinals wore their red jerseys--but given that the Redskins wore their maroon jerseys that night, you would think the Cards would have worn the blues, especially since it was a night game. Any suggestions?
10/5 (From pg. F4 of the 10/6 Chicago Tribune): The Cardinals definitely wore white helmets, and given the fact that the Bears only wore their dark blues in '52, logic would suggest that the Cards wore their red jerseys to avoid confusion.
10/12 (From pg. F3 of the 10/13 Chicago Tribune): The Cardinals definitely wore their white helmets and their jerseys appear lighter in the B&W photo.

Hmmm. My source says that the game was still a day game. (But I have found typos in it before.)
Notwithstanding, with proof that even teams like the Steelers and Browns went black vs brown for night games in this era, I don't think it's a reach to say that the game could have been Washington burgundy (gold helmets) vs Cards red (red helmets). The question is would the Cards have worn blue jerseys while wearing the red helmet AND being at home. Its been my understanding that teams like the Cards only used their 'alternate' jersey on the road - not at home.
Tim? What do you think?

Re: 1952 uncertainties
Another site Timmy introduced me to says Cardinals-Redskins was played on Monday night, the 29th.

Without membership I can't zoom enough to take a large screen capture but the photos are large enough to see without it.
GB is in green jerseys and khaki pants.

I think it around page 14.

Lions in blue over grey with silver lids
Texans in white over...I'm calling it white so there would be contrast with Lions' grey pants.
Going to keep looking to see if I can find a clearer shot of Texans' pants. Looks from the photo to have been a rainy/muddy game so telling the difference between white and grey pants may be tough.
