Louisiana has climbed back into the race for a spot in the GSL championship game; a win next week evens their head to head record against the Brewers, but gives them a 1 game lead going into the final three weeks of the season. There's now a clear division between the leagues top teams, and not so good teams.

The Brewers were able to defeat the Royals 27-24 in overtime for the second time this season, giving them a game and a half advantage over the Royals in the championship race, putting them in great position to take a spot in the championship game.

The Outlaws lost for only the second time this season, again falling to the San Diego Breakers, whose two wins on the season have come against the Outlaws, in an upset that keeps the Royals very much alive in the championship race, if they can beat the Outlaws at home next week. The Outlaws currently hold the tie breaker against the Royals, by beating Louisiana 17-14 in overtime in week 3. A win by the Royals next week would most likely move them into second place, and the Outlaws down to third place. An Outlaws win would almost cement them a place in the championship game; with a win, only a three way tie at 6-4 with St. Louis and Louisiana could knock them out, depending on points scored.

The championship race is shaping up, after a critical game in New Orleans this weekend, where the Outlaws squeezed by the Royals in a 9-6 defensive battle. This gives the outlaws two wins over the Royals. One more win for Las Vegas will put them in the championship game.

With a win over the Breakers, the Washington Stars kept their championship hopes alive. The Stars could beat out the Brewers if the Outlaws can grab a win against St. Louis in week 9, and if the Stars win their two remaining games.

The Royals have officially been eliminated from championship contention. Even with a 6-4 record, they could only either be tied with the Outlaws and Brewers at 6-4 (based on the remaining league schedule), and both teams have the head to head tie breaker against the Royals.

The playoff race has been decided after this weekend's games. Despite the win, the Washington Stars have been eliminated from Championship contention, after the St. Louis Brewers defeated the Las Vegas Outlaws in overtime. With the win, the Brewers has secured themselves as the home team in the GSL Championship game. Despite the loss, the Las Vegas Outlaws had already secured a place in the Championship game, after the Royals loss on Thanksgiving, since the Outlaws hold the head-to-head tie breaker with two wins over the Stars.

This Championship doesn't officially count in the GSL record books, since the 2020 season was just a demonstration season.
Although the Outlaws and Brewers separated themselves from the rest of the league this season, that success may not carry over into the next season, as team strengths will be reset, and randomly assigned before the 2021 season kicks off.
