Kansas City Buffaloes
We have some news regarding the Kansas City Buffaloes. A new owner has claimed them as of earlier today.
He is going to keep the name, I'm not sure about the colors, but since it's his team now, he will have creative control.
Looks like the Uni-Watch story about the GUD last Friday was a good advertisement though, since we also got a new owner for the Royals last Friday as well. We may get 32 unique league owners after all.

This is great to hear, maybe I should go give that story a read.

You can find it here: https://paullukas.bulletin.com/1364224450663278
Bill Schaefer was the one interviewed. There's a lot of GUD history there that even I learned, since it pre dates my time with the GUD.
The article has certainly given us a notable spike in web traffic, which is always good. Gave us a good boost in ad revenue the last couple days too, which is good news for everyone here for future franchise fees (which I've mentioned before, I'd love to get that to $0 for third year owners next season, and I think that will be the case).

That new owner would be me.
Has anyone had trouble getting a forum account? I'm supposed to get an activation email, but I never receive one.

This happened to me back when I first joined. If I remember correctly you might just have to wait for it to show up, which could take a few days.Frank wrote:That new owner would be me.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
Okay. Frustrating, but not a big deal. Thank you.
I already started with something team related, the alternate team logo, which is an interlocking K and C for Kansas City. Both the Chiefs and Royals sport a KC logo as their primary logo, but I'm working on an actual Buffalo logo at the moment, that will serve as the primary logo.
I did like the colors Austin sent me for the team, so I will keep most of them. I removed the red though, and replaced it with a lighter brown than the dark brown the team already had.
I would like to use this logo on the team helmets I think, or at least one of them.

Looks like it only took 4 hours for the email to come through, but it did. I'm all set up with an account.

Time for the wordmarks
The primary set
The font used for Kansas City is the same one used for the KC logo, although, not italicized
And the secondary set
I'm getting close on a Buffalo logo, but I'd like some feedback on it, if anyone is willing.

Great stuff!
Could you please email me all the full sized wordmarks / logos you have? I'll need that for getting images on the website.
Also, do you know the names of the fonts used? We keep a running log for every team in the league.

Sure. The Kansas City font is Rasputin and the Buffaloes font is Leviathan Italic.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
Okay, now for my first attempt at a buffalo logo, which is still a work in progress.
I'm thinking of reworking the facial features a little bit to make the face more fierce (also, I may have forgot ears), and making the color transitions a bit better. Not sure where to start with that though.
I'm open to C&C, and any suggestions you all have. I would like to keep the logo in a similar running position.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
That's a really good start if you plan on making some changes. You used the team colors really well throughout I think.
I don't really know how I'd go about fixing it, but those front legs seem just a little off to me. It may be the color transition at the top of the front leg, and the hooves on both front feet. That front hoof that's behind the other leg looks like it's pointing in an unnatural direction; down instead of back, if that makes sense. I really like where this has started off though.
What might help color transitions is a little more detail in the fur? The latest post on the Bears thread, or the Boston Bobcats logo might be some good examples of this.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
I do think that's an improvement. Looks better for sure.
With the hoof in the front, behind the leg, it is actually facing back, but it does look more like it is facing down. Part of that might be because I moved that behind leg to the right up a little bit. I think I can make that look better.
Thanks for the help guys.

Next round of updates. I still think there are some changes I'd like to make, but I like the direction I'm heading right now.
Updated facial features, updated front legs, and added some "fluff"

I think you're moving in the right direction. Front legs look much better I think. Only thing I might suggest from here is, making the added fluff, a little more fluffy, and less spiky? Rounding off the points on the end, and maybe increasing the width between those points?
I do really like what you have now though.

I agree with you point there.
I also wanted to reduce the size of the hump behind the head, so I did that.
This is my current iteration. I'm pretty happy with it, so it might be the final product, unless anyone sees anything else I should change or try.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
Okay, I think I want to confirm the logos I have.
I had the fields ready to go, other than the logo at midfield, so now that that's done, here are the Buffaloes field designs.
The first field would be used for almost all games. The field with painted endzones would be used for prime time games or in the playoffs, or any other big game.

I've got a start in the uniforms.
For this year, to start with, I'd only like two sets, a color and white jersey set. The only thing I don't have figured out, is a sleeve design. Still working on that, and I'll take suggestions.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
Well, you could just keep it simple. 8 NFL teams have just the team logo on the sleeve. Only 1 team, the Broncos, keep the sleeve completely empty when having the numbers up on the shoulder.
Other than that, maybe a stripe that mimics the notch in the numbers?
Also, would you want to add the standard GSL logo and/or a makers mark to the uniforms? Figured I'd ask if you didn't think about that as a possibility, but it's not required.

Re: Kansas City Buffaloes
Here's a couple sleeve designs, with blank on top.
I think I'm going to go with something close to the bottom sleeve design, with the stripe. The bison logo on the sleeve just doesn't work all that well I think, and an blank sleeve might be too plain.
I might edit the notch a little bit in the sleeve stripes, but I think this is it.
Other changes include a smaller KC helmet logo, and the addition of a FD makers mark for my initials.

After some final tweaks to the sleeve and pants striping, we have the final product.

Inaugural season logo for the Buffs
Austin, when I asked before about adding an inaugural logo to the uniforms and fields, you said that was fine. Is that still okay? I know we just passed the deadline for team designs. It just took me a little while to get around to finishing the logo.

Since I agreed to let you add the logo a while ago, I'll stand by that.
Email me the updates, and I'll get them on the site.
Very nice logo by the way.
