Checking the 10/1 Chicago Tribune, we have Orange Mesh in the one photo available. Perhaps a better confirmation was that the high that day (per FamersAlmanac.com) was 75.

OK. I'll go with the orange mesh based on the photo.
Another good place to go for the game temps is this...
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/
Click on the year and the word boxscore next to the game and the weather conditions are listed.
It actually lists the game on 9/30 as having...
Stadium: Mile High Stadium, Start Time: 2:00, Surface: grass,
Weather: 55 degrees, relative humidity 54%, wind 8 mph

Not a great photo, but here's one from the 10/7 game at Kansas City (p. 9 of 21):

Based on the sleeve numbers and the torso numbers I can see, I'm calling this a mesh.
A quick look at the boxscore from the game shows...
Weather: 67 degrees, relative humidity 88%, wind 11 mph.
I think mesh is a safe call.
Thanks.

I also found 2 images of the Broncos on the New York Times for the game at NYJ that look like mesh also.
This would mean that, even with opportunities to wear durene at...
Pittsburgh (34 degrees)
Oakland (47 degrees)
St Louis (44 degrees) and
NY Jets (48 degrees)...
the Broncos of 1973 did NOT wear white durene at all, choosing to go with the mesh at each opportunity.
We will continue to check but this appears to be the case.

Here's a lousy photo (p. 29) of the 9/16 Cincy @ Denver game:

..and another lousy one of the 9/23 SF @ Denver game:

Re: Hit List #9 - 1973 Denver Broncos ***CLOSED***
I've used up my quota of 3 looks on newspaperarchive.com for today so I'll try tomorrow.
Here's what I'm thinking...
In 1973 Denver wore white mesh all season, in temps ranging down to 33 degrees in Pittsburgh (photo seen above).
In orange however...
durene was worn for 10/22 vs Oakland (58 degrees - but was a MNF game so it likely got colder as the game progressed)
11/11 vs SD (52 degrees)
11/25 vs KC (31 degrees)
and 12/2 vs Dallas (51 degrees).
But orange mesh was worn for 9/30 vs Chicago (55 degrees).
The 3 remaining unsettled games are home vs Cincy (44 degrees), home vs SF (66 degrees), and at Houston (72 degrees).
The question becomes the Cincy game. Would they have worn the orange durene for the home opener?

Re: Hit List #9 - 1973 Denver Broncos ***CLOSED***
So I pieced together a blown up version of the shot of SF @ DEN...
If you focus on the player behind #11's right shoulder, despite the graininess, you can make out a considerable blue outline around his numbers - much thicker than what would appear had the Broncos been wearing the durene versions.
The same could also be said of Haven Moses (#25) in the back left corner.

Gametime temp for Week 1 was 44 degrees. I'm betting this is durene.

Week 5 - 10/14 - @ Houston
In the immortal words of Homer Simpson..."D'oh!"
I feel stupid.
It was IN HOUSTON - in the ASTRODOME!
A perfect 72 degrees.
It's not going to be durene. Orange mesh all the way!
