Missing Games in Need of Photos

Over in the "Preseason Missing games" thread, the third entry down lists all of the preseason games for which we have been unable to find photos.

While we are at it, let me remind you of our similar list for the NFL in the 1930s and '40s, the AAFC between 1946-49, and the USFL is missing only two games (both played in Arizona). These are all regular season games only.

Eventually, we hope so. Maybe 1935-39. Before '35 there just isn't nearly enough photos available, even in big circulations like the NY Times and the Chicago Tribune.

But adding these won't even be on our radar until we get all of the waiting updates done. This is the research stage only.

***UPDATE***
We've found a way to access old printings of the Philly Inquirer and have found a number of missing Eagles games - but not all.
Those found have been deleted from the list.

We desperately need a source for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Brooklyn Eagle did not provide much in the way of photo coverage for the Dodgers in the 30s.

It was right in front of me the whole time.
Just didn't bother to read the caption.
The player with the ball is a Packer.
The tacklers are Redskins.
The left arm of the front tackler has black at the end of his sleeve with a gold stripe on it.
This is surely the white-outlined Indian head jersey for Boston.

Clearly it will require the addition of a white jersey combo for the 1933 Reds.

Despite no photos, by combining the information from the NY Times and the Brooklyn Eagle, we have been able to determine that Brooklyn wore their 'front half red/back half white' uniforms and Cincinnati wore their white jerseys over red pants...

NY Daily Herald provides us with...

This Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article reporting on the 11/12/33 Brooklyn @ Pittsburgh game, clearly announces that the Pirates are wearing their new black and yellow striped jerseys for the first time.



This means that all other Pirate games before 11/12/33 featured the Pirates wearing their typical 'city-crest' jerseys...

This game summary in the Pittsburgh Press refers to the Pirates wearing the same black and gold jerseys that they had worn earlier in the year (in September) for their victory in Philadelphia.

I found a YouTube of the 1946 Cleveland Browns highlights.
At 29:20 the game moves from the Browns hosting the Dodgers in Week 5 to the Browns playing @ the Yankees in Week 6 - a game we did not have!

This is highly recommended viewing, as many of the highlights are in color! Very uncommon for the time period.
