GSL Expansion - Kansas City Buffaloes

Okay, I did some thinking, and this is what today's GSL expansion activity is going to be.

Anyone interested in having a say, EMAIL me (you can just use my regular email address, or the GUD email, either is fine), the city in which expansion team 32 will play.

There are 3 cities remaining to choose from:
Kansas City
Minneapolis
Oklahoma City

Vancouver is already selected as a GSL city, so you've got one of these three to pick.
Tomorrow morning, I will announce the city of the three above that's been awarded a team.

With that said, if you're interested in how which city is chosen effects division alignment, here are the three possible division alignments, given that Vancouver will host a franchise.

The only city of these that have a note, is that the nearest suitable stadium for the Oklahoma City team would be in Norman, Oklahoma

Come up with a team name for either Kansas City or Oklahoma City, and post it in this thread today.
Some people have already emailed me team names, but you'll have to post it again here for me to count it towards the tally.

I've got another tie break in mind for tomorrow if we still end this round tied.

I'm going with the Kansas City Smokers.
That may be a stretch, because BBQ is top notch in KC, but the name Smokers does make me think of someone smoking a cigarettes. There may be a better way to incorporate that into the name, but I haven't found it.

I chose Kansas City Bulls in reference to the Kansas City Livestock Exchange and the American Royal Livestock Show

Oklahoma Dust Devils

Omitted the 'City' part to sound better off the tongue and since there's no really good football venue in OKC proper.

Oklahoma City Spiders.. Not that good . I tried a random name generator for sports teams and got the Oklahoma City Orphan Annies so Spiders is gold !!

Seems like there's not much of a consensus so far.

Anyone who hasn't shared an opinion, if you'd like to weigh in, we'd love to hear what you've got.
If there's nothing soon, I've got another idea to get the ball rolling a little more.

Monarchs are good, but the Royals being in the league as well, I’m not sure what to do with it. But knights was a good play in Cincinnati being the Queen City, and knights and queens kind of go together. Im being a rambler, but I’m sure there’s a good way to do monarchs if that wins

There are three correct plural spellings for Buffalo:
1. Buffalo
2. Buffaloes
3. Buffalos

For now, just to have something on the website, I'm inserting Kansas City Buffalos as the team name.
We can all decide on which spelling is best.

For those who did not take English as a minor in college.

The Plural of Buffalo
The plural of buffalo is buffaloes or buffalos.. Example
"Buffaloes will engage in mobbing behavior when fighting off predators." or
"In some areas, buffalos are still hunted for meat."
The noun buffalo adheres to the standard rules for forming the plurals of nouns in English

So either from is correct. But for spelling reasons, I would go with Buffaloes as it is the more common of the two.

For a sports reference, University of Colorado is the Buffaloes, so I'll change the name to Buffaloes when I can.

Same as for Vancouver, next step is color pallet.
If everyone would like to submit a color pallet for the Kansas City Buffaloes, we can then vote on the best one starting in a couple days, with the winning colors being what should be used in team designs.

I will submit my color choices first here as an example, as to how colors can be submitted.

Here is my choice for a Kansas City Buffaloes color pallet.


Again, colors on the left are more prominent in the team designs than on the right, so brown and orange are the main colors, while white and green are accents.
I should mention that the accents on the far right of any pallet can be optional when coming up with team designs, so that way when we do move on to logo, wordmark, etc. designs, no one would be forced, in this case, to try and fit green into the designs, but brown and orange would be a must.
